Wellington Power Station

Plans are well advanced for the establishment of a 640 megawatt open-cycle gas-fired power station near  Dubbo in central western NSW.

The Wellington power station will use the best available technology to produce electricity efficiently and cleanly to help meet NSW's demand for electricity and contribute significantly to reducing the state's carbon emissions intensity.

Initial construction is expected to commence in 2011 with commissioning and commercial operations expected to start by the summer of 2012.

The project will create 400 jobs during construction and 10 permanent jobs once operational.
