Oakey Power Station is a 300MW plant located in western Queensland, adjacent to the Roma to Brisbane Gas Pipeline.
It is an open-cycle, dual-fuel, gas-fired power station that operates during times of peak demand - when Queensland's energy needs are greatest.
ERM led the development of the project and was the contract manager for the first six years of operation. ERM retains a 12.5 per cent interest and 25 per cent control of the project.
The Oakey Power Station was the first tender involving the private sector and public utilities in Queensland. ERM invited AIDC and Siemens to support the successful bid.
Oakey was commissioned safely, on-time, and under-budget in January 2000.
Oakey has a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with AGL that runs until the end of 2014.
