To ensure nearby businesses and residents are consulted throughout the development of the Neerabup Power Station, we have established a 10 member Community Reference Group. The CRG is made up of 10 individuals representing the various community groups with a stake in the power station’s development. These groups include the business community, local government, and nearby residents.
During the project’s construction it is estimated up to 420 jobs will be created in the local community, bringing an estimated $50 million in economic benefits to the area. When the plant begins operation, a further six workers are expected to be employed in ongoing roles.
The Neerabup Power Station supports community organisations in the region. We are currently providing help to Nyoongar Elders in their pursuit of cultural and land related activities. For more information about ERM's community activities in Western Australia, click here.
The Neerabup and Wanneroo community has been closely consulted throughout the life of the project. Community leaders have acted as members of the Neerabup Community Reference Group. Since October 2008, this group has run a community participation program involving residents and local councillors. Information for the group is available in the downloads section
