Welcome to the first edition of Powering On for 2010

While the ripple effect of the global financial crisis will continue this year, ERM Power is cautiously encouraged by the economic recovery so far.

We have therefore dedicated this edition of Powering On to reducing costs and forging ahead, hopeful of a strong economic year.

Some of you might have noticed articles in the press indicating that ERM Power is preparing to list on the Australian Stock Exchange later this year. This is an exciting prospect for the company and more details will follow in future editions of Powering On. No prospectus has been issued yet, all steps will occur in due course.

Energy bills are a large part of a company’s expenditure and so this edition of Powering On contains information on some of the ways ERM’s customers can save money. Take a look at our feature story on ERM’s early-payment rebate scheme.

We also spoke to Energy Networks Australia chief executive officer Andrew Blyth about network charges and why they make up so much of your energy bills.

You’ll also find some information on a service unique to ERM where we ensure our customers are on the most appropriate network tariff, again with the intention of minimising costs.

Thank you to the respondents of our readership survey. The feedback you provided was very valuable and you will see some of your suggestions incorporated into the newsletter throughout 2010.
