CEO's Welcome

Welcome to the first edition of Powering On, ERM Power’s newsletter for our valued retail customers.  Powering On will bring you a range of news articles and interviews every two months that we believe you will find useful, informative, and entertaining.

We hope it will quickly grow to become a valuable resource, and I encourage you to share it with colleagues, staff and contacts.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome new customers who have joined ERM in recent months.  One of our articles in this newsletter outlines the rapid growth we have experienced in 2008, and we are grateful that you’ve chosen ERM as a partner in your business success.  Thank you also to our longer-term customers, who have been core building blocks of our growth and of the success story that ERM Power Retail is fast becoming.

This first edition of Powering On features an exclusive interview with the Queensland Minister for Mines and Energy, Geoff Wilson, who shares his views on the importance of gas-fired generation for the state’s future.

There’s a fascinating article about international efforts to harness wave power for electricity generation and, crucially, to make it a cost-competitive option for energy users.  On the subject of the the environment, we’ll tell you about ERM’s efforts to save a vulnerable plant species near our Braemar 2 Power Station.

In each edition of Powering On, we will bring you a wrap up of news from the energy industry around Australia, and latest developments from ERM’s head office.  We’ll also update you regularly on developments in the National Electricity Market, including the latest pricing movements in the contract and environmental markets.

If you have any questions or feedback about this newsletter, or would like to suggest a story, please drop us a line at sales@ermpower.com.au.

Thank you again for your support during 2008.  I hope you and your loved ones have a happy and restful festive season, and a very successful 2009.

Mitch Anderson
